2021 ANNUAL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS FHB ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The third Annual Meeting of the Friends of Historic Bristol on March 15, 2021 highlighted the accomplishments of the organization during 2020. Read the full Secretary’s Report HERE

  • Planned Sites of Conscience Summit, held on Feb 1 , 2021 to promote consensus among leaders of American Indian, African American and local organizations to discuss Bristol’s “hard history” related to its treatment of enslaved black people and indigenous peoples. Read the Summit Report HERE

  • Researched Flood Zone designations that impact insurance rates for Bristol property owners near Bristol Harbor; currently finalizing implications and action plan for affected properties.

  • FHB carried out field research on the location of empty storefronts in the historic district and is in the process of researching tax abatement policies and their implications.

  • FHB participated in the Bristol Charter Review

  • Continued collaboration with Grow Smart RI to implement economic development of Bristol’s historic downtown

  • Planned out a program of 2021 activities, such as educational presentations and our “Meet Friends” wine and appetizer gatherings, to strengthen Bristol’s community.
